Welcome to the Skype LearnAbout in the Star Cafe
As we move to the new version of Skype, we will be updating the Skype LearnAbout with new resources:
- A guide to installing Skype 4
- A Star Path showing the new ways to make calls and chats
A StarPoint covering the use of the IP Phone
A StarPoint dealing with dropped connections in a conference call
Over time we will be adapting the older resources to the newer standard.
Skype calling and Skype chats can support effective communication and lower the overall costs for calls, sometimes dramatically. Perhaps more importantly, Skype is one of the suite of tools supporting Computer Supported Cooperative Work and Learning across the AFSC.
Your learning about Skype will center on a series of CQ’s where you come together with a small group of your peers in web conferences to experience and use the application under the guidance of a facilitator.
The Skype LearnAbout provides tools and resources to aid you as you learn about Skype:
- A directory of AFSC Skype Users
- A set of Star Paths that explain & recreate the way you interact with Skype
- A link to other Skype-related Star Points in the Star Academy
- A troubleshooting guide with tips on using Skype
- A discussion forum where you can ask questions, exchange tips, and submit suggestions
- A calendar of upcoming CQ’s and other relevant events or dates
